Today while picking up some groceries from the store an old man drove up in his motorized wheel chair. He stopped to say hi to Rose, give her high fives, tickle her leg—–all in an effort to see her pretty smile. Though it’s rare that a stranger can make her smile (until they turn around—she’s a bit shy) it’s always worth the effort.
I once heard that children smile on average 400 times a day vs. 15 times a day for adults. Maybe that is why we seek the smile or laugh of a child——because it’s always just beneath the surface. Somewhere along the way we lose that as adults. Everyone loves to be smiled at though. I try to remember that in my life whether I’m with my family or greeting the mail man.
My mom told me about the video below. I loved it and had to share. I think it’s so true. Everyone wants to be validated and there’s definitely a chain reaction, a wave of optimism that comes from spreading your kindness.
A smile goes a long way. Pass yours on.
Happy Tuesday!
